Paje Beach

Located off the coast of Tanzania, Paje is situated on the island of Zanzibar, which can succinctly be summed up as Indian Ocean amazingness.

Situated on the east coast of this fabulous island, Paje is essentially a huge, long strip of white sand bordered by a small village on one side and a collection of beachfront accommodation services and eateries, as well as turquoise waters on the other.

Review from a User: A laid back beach that is buzzing but not too busy at all…..lots of activities going on; lots of kite surfing, people doing exercise, people working. A very safe and absolutely stunning environment. Wish we had stayed here for longer rather than Nungwi beach which had so many hawkers you can hardly get anywhere.

Serengeti Hippo Pool

You’re likely to encounter hippos at various watering spots in the Serengeti, but the Retina Hippo Pool in Central Serengeti offers a unique spectacle. Located at the confluence of the Seronera and Orangi rivers, this pool is home to approximately 200 active, playful hippos.

While some past visitors mentioned the strong odor – these are wild animals, after all – it doesn’t deter from the experience. You’ll have ample opportunities to capture photos of hippos, as well as herons and Nile crocodiles. However, remember that these animals are large and potentially dangerous, so maintaining a safe distance is advisable. Additionally, consider visiting during the dry season, from July to November, when lower water levels make more hippos visible.
