Real Madrid will be hosting Manchester City in an exciting UEFA Champions League quarterfinal first leg match in Madrid, Spain.

Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid team is currently leading in La Liga. They have faced injury problems throughout the season, but these issues are starting to improve. The team boasts a great mix of young talent and experienced players. Jude Bellingham, Rodrygo, and Vinicius Jr are the young stars in the attack, while players like Antonio Rudiger, Luka Modric, Dani Caravajal, and Toni Kroos bring experience to the team. Real Madrid has only lost once in La Liga this season and has the best defensive record in Spain, conceding only 20 goals in 30 games.

Manchester City is currently just one point behind Premier League leaders Arsenal with seven games left in the season. They are also in the FA Cup semifinals against Chelsea, and their chances of winning back-to-back trebles are still alive. However, City will be missing Kyle Walker and Nathan Ake due to injury for this game, which will affect their defensive strategy against Real Madrid. Nonetheless, Pep Guardiola will be relying on Kevin de Bruyne and the rest of the team to provide plenty of attacking threat to compensate for any defensive weaknesses.

Real Madrid team news, focus

Star defender David Alaba is out for the season with an ACL injury, while superstar goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has also been out for most of the season with an ACL. Real have an incredible defensive record even without that duo as the likes of Rudiger and Lunin have stood tall with Tchouameni playing extremely well out of position at center back. Camavinga is having a fine season in midfield and Valverde and Bellingham drive Real on from midfield into attack. Obviously Vinicius is the danger man and not having to face Kyle Walker in this game is a huge bonus for the Brazilian.

Manchester City team news, focus

City will face setbacks due to two important defensive players being injured. Walker’s speed has been crucial in challenging Vinicius in past matches, acting as a valuable asset for City and aiding in quick recoveries. With Ake also absent and Gvardiol uncertain, Akanji might be deployed as a left back if Pep opts for a flat back four formation.

In midfield, Rodri and De Bruyne are confirmed starters, with Phil Foden likely to join them. The question remains whether City can supply Erling Haaland frequently and if he can outperform Rudiger individually.
