His body has been taken to Kalwa Hospital. Police personnel were reportedly seriously injured and taken to Jupiter Hospital.
Accused Akshay Shinde was being transported for a transit remand in a police van, where a policeman was seated beside him. Initial reports suggested that Akshay seized the officer’s gun and shot himself during the transit. However, further investigation revealed that he opened fire on the police. In response to this threat, the police returned fire in self-defence, resulting in Akshay’s death. It was also noted that the police aimed to protect Akshay from his own actions while firing. The injured officer has since been admitted to Jupiter Hospital for medical treatment.

He recently admitted to the police that he sexually assaulted two schoolgirls. As part of the investigation conducted by the Special Investigation Team (SIT), Shinde provided a recorded statement in front of a camera, which was subsequently presented in court. The SIT submitted two separate charge sheets regarding the rape of minors at a school in Badlapur. He unequivocally confessed to abusing both students, and this admission was also recorded in front of doctors and police.
