Barcelona Out of Champions League After Loss to PSG

Barcelona’s run in this season’s Champions League ended in the quarter-finals with a 4-1 defeat against Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in Tuesday’s match at the Montjuïc Olympic Stadium. Barcelona started well, taking an early lead, but a red card changed the game, and PSG scored the goals they needed to win.

Barcelona vs PSG

First Half

Barcelona started the game much like the previous week, letting PSG have the ball and focusing on defense. Despite this, Barcelona scored first with Lamine Yamal assisting Raphinha for a goal. Barcelona looked comfortable until a red card for Ronald Araujo left them with 10 players for the rest of the game.

PSG took advantage of the situation, scoring an equalizer just before halftime through Ousmane Dembélé. PSG continued to dominate, knowing they had a one-player advantage.

Second Half

The second half saw PSG controlling the game. They scored again through Vitinha, and Kylian Mbappé added a penalty, making it difficult for Barcelona to come back. Despite some late efforts from Barcelona, including a shot that hit the post, PSG sealed their victory with a late goal from Mbappé.

Barcelona tried to attack with substitutes João Félix and Fermín López coming on, but they couldn’t find a way past PSG’s defense.

In the end, PSG advanced to the semi-finals, leaving Barcelona disappointed but acknowledging the impact of the red card on the game’s outcome.

Paris Saint-Germain stun Barcelona in Spain as Kylian Mbappe scores twice in a 4-1 win to lead the French champions to a 6-4 aggregate win.

They now face Borussia Dortmund, who overcame Atletico Madrid with a 5-4 aggregate win having trailed 2-1 from the first-leg.

We’ll be back on Wednesday with Manchester City against Real Madrid and we’ll keep our up-to-date with Arsenal’s match at Bayern Munich.

For now, though – from me, Kevin Hand – it’s goodbye.
